WHAT? The Pawley’s Island Leadership Conference is a weekend conference at the beach for any student interested in getting more involved in YIG.
WHO? Students in leadership positions are encouraged to attend, but it’s not just for leadership. ALL students—even first –time participants—who want to learn more about YIG and help plan the conference should attend. We’ll also focus on how to apply the lessons of YIG in ―the real world.
WHY? The Pawley’s Leadership Conference is the foundation of our philosophy of student- run programs. You and your fellow YIG delegates will help plan and improve the 2010 Model Legislature and Court conference. You will learn some specifics about your particular role, and you’ll help us make this program better. You’ll also get specific training in how you can help the YMCA Youth in Government program promote its mission. We’ll also kick off our annual YIG Student Scholarship Campaign, which will allow you and your fellow YIG delegates to help YIG raise money to support the Scholarship Fund.
WHEN? Friday, September 16 through Sunday, September 18, 2011. We’ll leave Friday afternoon from Greenville, and will arrange to pick up students along the way.
WHERE? North Litchfield Beach, SC. We have several houses, all of which will be chaperoned by adults. Houses will be segregated by gender.
HOW MUCH? The cost is $200, which includes your transportation (via YMCA buses), your lodging and your food.
SIGN-UPS ARE DUE BY SEPTEMBER 1st.
